Story about: Audrey Wilkinson, Vigneron, Hunter Valley

A man named Audrey was a pioneering vigneron in the Hunter Valley for over 60 years, leaving behind a legacy of quality and commitment that still inspires winemakers today.

Audrey Wilkinson was known as the Gentleman Vigneron who made great wine on the pictuersque vineyard in Pokolbin in the lower Hunter Valley, first planted by his father in 1866 and now named after him.

Audrey Wilkinson wines have been highly regarded for well over 100 years, winning numerous awards from wine show across Australia over time. Audrey was also an early succesful exporter of wine to London at the turn of the last century, where he won a number of gold medals.

Today, the legacy of Audrey Wilkinson is carried forward by the Agnew family. Under their stewardship, winemaking returned to the vineyard for the first time in over 50 years and winemaker Jeff Byrne is now regularly winning gold medals and trophies for our wines - just as Audrey did over 100 years ago.

The legacy of Audrey Wilkinson is in everything we do.
