A renowned specialist on champagne and sparkling wines of the world, Essi Avellan is the first Master of Wine from Finland. Working in the wine business for over 15 years, Essie is currently the editor of FINE Champagne Magazine, the world’s only magazine dedicated solely to champagne. In addition to having written a champagne book and wine buying guides, Essie contributes to several newspapers and wine magazines including FINE The Wine Magazine, Decanter and the World of Fine Wine.

Currently in the process of revising the 3rd Edition of Tom Stevenson’s celebrated Christie’s World Encyclopedia of Champagne and Sparkling Wine, Essie also judges at selected wine competitions and chairs the Champagne panel at Decanter World Wine Awards.
