Born and raised in Adelaide, Andre Ursini was brought up in a household strongly influenced by its Northern Italian cultural heritage. The Masterchef Australia finalist wasted no time gaining the experience and knowledge needed to open his first restaurant.
In 2010, at the age of 29, Andre’ opened the doors to Andre’s Cucina & Polenta Bar in Adelaide's CBD. His innovative and popular North Italian-inspired casual eatery had been years in the making. One of very few contestants from the series who pursued a career in the commercial kitchen, Andre continues to be recognised for his achievements.
Andre is a regular food commentator across all media and is a former Young South Australian of the Year nominee. As will as giving many hours of ongoing dedication and commitment to his profession, Andre gives a great deal of time and support to the Ozharvest & The Bone Health Foundation charities.
