Mark Protheroe, Head sommelier at the Grossi Group
Mark is involved in all aspects of running the beverage program, cost control and staff training. Balance, value and theme are key elements to his wine list philosophy.
Mark has spent the last 3 years heading up the beverage program for Grossi Restaurant Group. During his tenure he has reinforced the beverage culture within the venues which now boast 8 full-time sommeliers working alongside him. He has been involved in the opening of two new ventures and also the recent renovation of the flagship Restaurant upstairs.
In 2010 when he won the Negociants working with wine fellowship before going on to pass his Advanced certification with the Court of Master Sommeliers in 2011. He recently represented Australia at the Sommelier du Monde competition in Tokyo and has now set his sights on the next challenge, completing his Master Sommelier diploma which will take place in London later this year.
