St Hugo dinner - the Pursuit of Excellence , hosted by Jacob’s Creek on the grounds of Government House, North Terrace

Jacob’s Creek hosts an exclusive dinner on the grounds of Government House featuring a selection of outstanding St. Hugo fine wines, which demonstrate the pursuit of excellence under this iconic wine label.

Since its first vintage in 1980, the winemakers behind St Hugo wines have been dedicated to the pursuit of excellence inspired by the legacy of Hugo Gramp after whom the label was named. Hugo Gramp was a South Australian wine visionary who, as Managing Director of G.Gramp & Sons during the 1920s and 1930s, led the Barossa based winery to become a pillar of the Australian wine industry. Hugo was a true gentleman whose dedication to excellence, drive for progress and acclaim as an expert judge of wine earned him respect among his peers and the generations who followed after.

Having made such an important contribution to the successful development of wine in South Australia in the early 20th century, it is fitting this dinner was held on the grounds of Government House. It is rare that permission is granted to hold private events at this very special site. Government House is a very significant landmark in Adelaide, as the official residence of the Governor of South Australia appointed by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. 

The elegant dinner was held under cover in a beautifully appointed marquee on the lawns of Government House. The menu was prepared by acclaimed chef Genevieve Harris whose 25 year career has included a number of exclusive restaurants such as Neil Perry’s highly acclaimed Blue Water Grill in Bondi Sydney, Balmoral’s Bathers Pavilion and the luxurious Amankila Resort in Bali.
