Mount Ida is located in the legendary Shiraz growing region of Heathcote, Central Victoria. First planted in the mid 1970s, the Mount Ida Vineyards were decimated by the Ash Wednesday bush fires in 1983. The vines took 3 years to fully recover and resume producing the extraordinary Shiraz that the Heathcote region is celebrated for. Traditional winemaking techniques, when applied to this dry- rown fruit, produces the intense blend of ripe fruit and black pepper flavours that Mount Ida Shiraz is renowned for.
The wine shows lifted raspberry and liquorice notes. The palate is concentrated and inky with flavours of blood plum, spice and cherry. Rich, mouthfilling tannins provide for a long and generous finish with underlying mocha oak notes.
