Fowles Wine is a contemporary winery located in the ruggedly beautiful Strathbogie Ranges Central Victoria. The first Victorian winery to win the prestigious trophy for ‘Australia’s Best Shiraz’, the elevated slopes and granite rich soils in which their vines grow yield some of Australia’s finest cool climate wines.
Fowles Wine is led by Matt Fowles, a former lawyer with a passion for food and wine who stepped up to the role of Chief Executive in 2005 and is the driving force behind the award winning winery. Matt is also the man behind the award winning Ladies who Shoot their Lunch – the world’s first wine to be blended to complement wild game meat.
The winemaking team is led by Victor Nash. A finalist in the Young Australian Winemaker of Year Competition with a passion for the great French varietals of Burgundy, Bordeaux and the Rhone, Victor was lured to Strathbogie Ranges in 2002 by distinctive and exciting qualities of the grapes and has been crafting Fowles Wine ever since.
Awarded ‘Best Winery’ by the Victorian Tourism Awards, Fowles Wine Cellar Door Café has a knowledgeable and friendly team who are keen to share the flavours of the region through award winning cool climate wines and a delicious modern European menu.
Fowles Wine Cellar Door Café has been Listed in The Age Good Food Guide for three years running and offers tastings of all their wines that can be enjoyed with a range of Antipasti and Charcuterie, light bites or generous lunches.
With a shaded courtyard and children’s playground, the Café has great spaces for everyone to enjoy. Fowles Wine is also suitable for a range of functions and can help plan and deliver a range of options that suit individual needs.
Fowles Wine Cellar Door Café is conveniently located just off the Hume Freeway in Avenel.
